Tantrum’s unique character stems from a rare marriage of classic, mid-century style with the best of today’s handmade toys, all curated within the theme of a lively, old fashioned circus. Step into these shops to be transported into a time of fun and nostalgic beauty. Within these spaces you will find Danish mice and French dolls, German lights and organic threads, letter pressed cards, art supplies, party supplies and an array of children’s books.
The evolution of Tantrum started when Amanda Weld, a former illustration major at Savannah College of Art and Design with a penchant for mid-century graphics, had moved to San Francisco and wanted to open a store that mirrored her children’s circus themed birthday parties. In 2012 Amanda and good friend Michelle Spear made this cotton candy dream a reality. Michelle now owns a successful production studio out of Nashville called Farmuse and was instrumental in the design of the brand.
Now with two San Francisco locations (as well as the on-line store) Amanda runs the stores alongside her husband Richard Weld. Together they bring a sense of joy and community to long lost art of shopmaking.
